Terms and Conditions

Legal terms and conditions governing the use of ChaosRoots

Effective Date: 2026-10-12

Welcome to ChaosRoots! ChaosRoots is operated by Whimsical LAMB LLC ("we," "us"). By using our website and services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Accounts

To use certain features of our Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address. You must be at least 13 years old to use ChaosRoots. If you buy a paid plan, you must also be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Your Content

You keep ownership of the calendars, events, and other content you create. You give us a limited license to host, copy, display, and serve that content as needed to operate ChaosRoots, including public calendar pages, subscription feeds, exports, and generated images. Calendars and events you share by link or publish can be viewed and subscribed to by anyone with the link, and subscribers' calendar apps may keep their own copies. You are responsible for your content and must have the right to share it. Do not post content that is unlawful, infringing, or harassing.

4. Use of the Service

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. You must not use the Service in any way that could harm, disable, or impair its functionality or security, attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or work around plan limits.

5. Connected Apps and AI Assistants

You can authorize third-party apps, including AI assistants, to access your account within the permissions you grant. You are responsible for the apps you authorize, and actions taken through an authorized app are treated as your actions. AI assistants can misunderstand a request or make mistakes, so check the results. We are not responsible for third-party apps or their providers. You can revoke an app's access at any time in your account settings, and we may limit or revoke access that threatens the Service or other users.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

ChaosRoots offers a free Basic plan with limits, such as the number of personal calendars, and a paid Individual membership that removes the personal-calendar limit. We may change plan features and limits.

  • Paid memberships are recurring subscriptions billed through Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. You authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method each period until you cancel. Taxes are added where required.
  • You can cancel at any time in your account's billing settings. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account moves to the Basic plan.
  • Calendars you already created are not deleted when a membership ends, but you will not be able to create more personal calendars than the Basic plan allows.
  • If a payment fails, your membership may be paused or ended until the billing issue is resolved.
  • We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. To request a refund, for example if you were charged in error, email hello@chaosroots.com. We review requests individually.
  • Price changes take effect at your next renewal after we give notice, and you may cancel before then.
  • Payment details are handled by Stripe. We do not store full payment-card numbers.

7. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

8. Intellectual Property

All content and materials on this site, including the design, logo, and functionality, are the property of ChaosRoots and are protected by intellectual property laws, except for the content you provide. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of our site without our written permission.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may email us to request deletion of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, if you violate these Terms and Conditions or if we believe such action is necessary to protect our platform or users. Calendars, events, and tags you delete are removed from your account. Links that others have already subscribed to may continue to respond with an empty "removed" calendar so their calendar apps do not report errors.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions periodically. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting them on this page and/or sending you an email notification.

11. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content produced or changed through a connected app will be accurate.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you have not paid us. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
